Jason Voss Clinic at Rio Vista, July 28-29

   Taking the Jason Voss Clinic was the best thing I’ve done for both my wife and my sailing ever! Both Jason and Casey Hauser, his co-instructor, really clean up your windsurfing act with a lecture and demo on fine tuning your equipment and sailing stance. The Clinic was held over three days at Rio Vista and hosted by Tony & Gail DeMattei from Rio Viento Windsurf Resort. From learning to jibe to looping, Jason is able to customize the clinic to everyone there.

   After a short session of dry land instruction and simulators you hit the water to be video taped. As you are practicing your new technique, out of nowhere Jason or Casey appear behind you to help you along. Once they see you understand, they are off to help someone else. Only to reappear after you get launched over the handlebars after the biggest jump you’ve ever taken in your life. “Keep your body behind the board, not out to the side”, they yell as they hover near by to see if you’re still conscious. Then rush off to help someone finish that last part of a board 360.

   Lunch and dinners were prepared by master chef Gail. Gail seemed to out-do herself with every meal. There was more than enough food for everyone.

   Truly an amazing experience that is worth every penny. We will be back every year to fine tune and learn something new. One day we hope to take the Clinic in Maui! Now that would be really “Noice” as Jason would say.
