Mike’s Big Day

Subject: f**kin A dudes!
Just f**kin Hauled Ass at Candlestick. What a nice place to sail. Played hooky from work this afternoon and left around 3:30. (“So…you’ve been missing a lot of work lately, Mike.”…...”Well, Bob...I wouldn’t say I’ve been missing it!” - Office Space the movie, if you haven’t seen it- rent it.) got to Candlestick around 4:15 and people were Hauling Ass.
Realized that I had everything loaded up since last week, except my wetsuit bag, which was still on the shelf in the garage. F**kin dumbass. Had to drive up into the city and back through rush hour just to retrieve that freakin duffle bag. Considered sailing in jeans or even just underwear, but was concerned about excessive penis shrinkage. Took shortcuts through some sh***y sections of town to avoid traffic. Cesar Chavez drive...go figure. Many Mexicans were almost sacrificed as an offering to the Wind Spirit. With some luck and diligent Mad Max maneuvers, made it back to the rigging area at
Candlestick just before 5:00. (had considered just going to Chrissy once I got into the city, but could see the Golden Gate was fogged in from my place and Candlestick had looked just too f**kin sweet!). Rigged without incident or any Shojiing. [ed. note: “Shojiing” refers to a guy who used to find the bad in something even when it was 99% good, i.e.: “Unreal! 23mph wind all day!” “Yeah, but I tore my wetsuit”] Powered down a f**kin Red Bull and hit the water.
Sailed wound up on the 6.2 Expression + Ride for a solid hour. Could have used some quick bursts of tuning but just didn’t want to stop. Most people were on 5.2 -5.8. someone with a pager said it was 10-33 at the time we were all Hauling. Super silky velvety smooth water. Flat compared to just about everywhere else I sail. Very pleasurable, comfortable sailing. It was also flood tide, which at Candlestick actually helps you stay upwind, unlike everywhere else in the Bay area. Tried some jibes also.......oh well.
Then the wind dropped suddenly like a fuckin rock. Luckily I was on my way in and only had to swim for about 20 yards. Like I said... the wind is still really flakey here late into the season this year for some reason. Apparently, Candlestick will usually blow well into the evening, and yesterday they said people were out on 3.5’s there - with Chrissy dropping like a rock late in the day. Apparently Chrissy was pretty dead today, so I guess I did make the right call.
So then I just chilled out, enjoyed life, thought about how much windsurfing kicks ass, powered down several delicious new Peanut Toffee Buzz cliffies [Cliff Bars] with yet another f**kin Red Bull, packed up my stuff, and chatted with this cool dude for awhile. Incidentally, possibly the first black dude windsurfer I have ever met. All-in-all, a great little season opener for me.
Headed up into the city. Hit my favorite neighborhood eating establishment, powered down a couple plates of great fresh food with a couple juicy glasses of red wine. Had this killer ginger cake with pumpkin ice cream and homemade caramel sauce for desert. Chatted with this really nice lady who
recommended this great soul food place in yet another s***ty area of town, which apparently happens to be open only on M-W-F. so.....I think I need to fully skip work tomorrow and Haul Ass again at Candlestick and eat there.
After dinner, I headed over to this really up-scale trendy restaurant around the corner. Garbed in my après windsurf wear (jeans, Fuggin-Uggly boots, Bay to Breakers t-shirt), I proceeded to sit at the bar and power down a nice Laphroaig 15, while watching two hot lesbian chicks making out across the bar. God, I f**kin love this town. Then I came home and poured myself a big f**kin glass of Bunnahabhain 12 and wrote this. YEAH, BABY!!!! Now I’m going to finish this and the scotch and think about sailing today and those two hot lesbians. You f**kers should come visit and Haul Ass and drink good booze and watch lesbos.
Shaka!!!!!!!!!!!
