Monday in Maui

Hey guys--
Well, Maui kicked in today--the trades are back (although probably for just one more day). We sailed Kanaha, and it was good.
Casey was on his Manic 4.7 on a JP 84 Freeride Wave from the shop. I saw him try (but miss) a back loop! He's getting ready. Janice was on Casey's little Exocet (78 liters going on 73 liters) and the Manic 4.2. She had to come in to downhaul more, and then was happy--I guess it runs in the family...?! I tried the new Thommen in 85 liter size, with a 5.0 Zone. It was wild in the bump! But I had fun, too, especially once I got the timing down on the jibes on the outside swells (about 10 foot swells outside!). Absolutely effortless when the timing's right!
Kanaha is quite beautiful, with grassy lawns and trees to rig, (cold) showers and places to rinse off gear, but it's really bumpy and disorganized, with a chop and swell from different directions, and it tends to be holey--hey, but what else is new!
We're all feeling very worked out, and mellow--there's something magical about this place.
Have fun--and keep those home waters churning!

Cliff
