Wind Advisory Remains in Effect
February 26, 2007
Well Spennie, I hope that you had fun tasting wine. While you were imbibing, eight of us were busy jibing (Well, perhaps falling would be more accurate but it just doesn't rhyme) at Leo Carillo. Recognizable crew members who had a much harder time keeping their boards in the water than you did keeping the glasses to your lips, were: Mitchell, Henry, Frank (partime kiter), Gene, John O., Dara, dude from Santa Monica(?), and one other unrecognized (good sailor) dude. It was four short of a case. Regrettably, we were offered no full cases of this fine vintage '07 Mar-blow.
Conditions were a bit chilly, but not too bad, being that the sun was shining. I, el-Skunkadorio, was powerless, and ended up rigging a 5.0 wave sail. I placed it atop my 98L JP Freestyle-Wave and had a great time. But, as mentioned earlier, it was difficult keeping it in the water in the rather large swells (5+ at times) while fully powered. There was plenty of tail-walking going around. I may have been better off if I'd used my Naish 85L wave board but it was too cold to consider a long swim in without something uphaulable in a pinch. There you have it. Salud.
